Avoid the bullocks of Quenby Hall!

The walk started off with an unfriendly style maybe this should have been an omen? We followed the footpath signs into a bog which had grass so springy you could have been in a trampolene park. Fortunately I saw some gates which were not padlocked so the adventure could continue.
Last time I ventured to Quenby Hall the bullocks were safely secured behind a fence. As we didn't see them for the first mile of the estate walk I thought all would be good. Is it me or are cows seemingly always by the gate you need to pass through? At first they looked like they were running away, happy days! Alas no, I took Gatsby and marched purposefully through the gate while my friend looked big. I don't think I've opened a gate as fast. We continue on assuming that the cow incident has passed. Alas a few 100 yards further we see more cows! Only 3, manageable and at a distance so pick up the pace without running (tempted) to see yet further cows by the gate that exits the estate. Same technique applied, what I have learned is bullocks are not scared at all! Letting Gatsby off the lead won't work as his need to protect overrides his need to be safe. I don't think I have ever felt happier getting through a gate!
Next comes styles that would not look out of place at the Grand National and completely inaccessible to people like my father in law. It does sadden me that gates can't be used these days making paths accessible to all! Following this I saw a field of horses I thought we've had enough for one day! So we did extra miles to avoid them. From this point the walk was a complete delight. Gates, quiet paths, amazing picturesque scenery which reminded me of the Peak District. Babbling brook for Gatsby to retrieve logs, anything retrieved from water satisfies his innate drives.
The only remaining challenge was a sheep had got it's leg stuck in a gate. My friend went to help him and for a high prey drive dog you can imagine! I adopted the emergency protocol which is how a dinky 5ft3 Flo can restrain a 32 kilo solid Gatsby. I applied the #PetRemedy spray which along with space and sitting to observe, was needed as we crossed the field of running sheep. The van was in sight!
I haven't taken Gatsby to a cafe in a long time, it's outdoors near closing. We ordered our cafe and cake and once we had the order we brought Gatsby out. It was the perfect location and near a gate, exit points are so important. Despite the 3 loud ladies Gatsby settled in the down position, doing find it. We spent possibly 15 minutes but enough to drink our coffee and for Gatsby to observe. Anyone who has a sensitive dog gets this huge milestone of your dog laying at your feet in a cafe. Location, location, location doesn't just apply to buying a house :)
