The charming side of Corby

Ventured out on a new walk given it was a dry day and not too hot and it's good for our dogs to explore new smells. We started with a style that would not look out of place at the Grand National but an absolutely beautiful parkland complete with water for Gatsby to dip his paws. Nothing gives him more pleasure than retrieving items from the water. Given the labrador's history of retrieving fishing lines in Canadian waters of course this would be an innate pleasure and intrinsic motivation.

When I looked at the OS map it looked like a bridge crossing the busy road but was actually a road runner moment where the path opposite was hidden which is what one of the pics depicts.

We then found ourselves in terrain that would not look out of place in Yorkshire and eventually stumbled upon Deene Park. I'm pleased to say we did not stumble upon the advertised bull or calves. Picture perfect with beautiful cottages bathed in sunlight and British countryside at it's best. With sheep grazing peacefully but fenced off and lake with swans.

We then crossed the busy road again and eventually ended up in an airfield complete with bird scarers #petremedy to the rescue again. Eventually we came to some woods and a small holding with the 2 lovely highland cows. Onwards towards arable fields and well marked paths.

Curiously we came to a farm which had a diversion to move away from the cows but with gates open they could have easily come to us but chose to move away thank goodness. The one part of the walk there were cows there were no signs to warn us. A reminder that the cows are now out! Gatsby was now his relaxed self and given the herds of deer ahead on the lead. His prey drive would be further peaked as we retraced a path we knew already with large hare and pheasant, his favourite! This is no surprise given he was bred to hunt pheasant.

A walk we did not see a single person or dog my favourite kind as being the owner of a sensitive dog it enables us both to empty our buckets.
